Overview

The Department of Commerce, established in 2013 at Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College, Bela, is dedicated to providing comprehensive education and training in commerce. It offers programs like Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) and Master of Commerce (M.Com, introduced in 2015), equipping students with skills in accounting, finance, marketing, and business management. The department fosters a stimulating learning environment with well-qualified faculty, encouraging participation in sports, NSS, NCC, and co-curricular activities like debates, quizzes, and entrepreneurship programs. Extension activities such as educational visits and community service enhance practical learning and social responsibility.

Programs Offered

Program Intake Duration Eligibility
B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce)

Under NEP 2020, the B.Com program offers a multidisciplinary approach with flexibility in learning, spanning 3-4 years with multiple entry/exit points. Students choose from Accounting (compulsory), Management, Economics, and Law (select two). Multidisciplinary courses (MDSC) include Laws, International Business, or ICT, not studied at 10+2 or as core subjects.

60 3 + 1 years / 8 Semesters 10+2 with at least 45% marks in any stream, or 50% for non-commerce streams; reappear candidates eligible if cleared in supplementary exam.
M.Com (Master of Commerce)

Master of Commerce (M.Com) is a postgraduate program divided into four semesters, focusing on advanced accounting, financial management, international business, and taxation.

30 2 years / 4 Semesters Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/BBA/BBM/BCA/BA in Commerce, Business Administration, or related fields with minimum 50% marks (45% for reserved category).
