The Department of Languages at Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College, Bela, established in 1975, is a vibrant centre of learning offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in English and Punjabi. The department fosters linguistic proficiency, cultural awareness, and critical thinking, nurturing skilled communicators and engaged global citizens.
The department offers a wide range of subjects, including General English, English Communication Skills, Personality Development, English Literature, Compulsory Punjabi, Punjabi Literature, and Mudla Gyan, catering to diverse student needs. The curriculum enhances analytical abilities, cultural insights, and creative expression through classical and contemporary literature, literary criticism, linguistics, and communication skills. Students gain theoretical and practical skills for careers in teaching, writing, journalism, and more. The department also offers a one-month Spoken English certification course to boost fluency and confidence.
The M.A. in Punjabi, launched in 2020-2021, focuses on preserving and promoting Punjabi language and culture. The curriculum covers the History of Punjabi Literature, Sufi Poetry, Literary Criticism, Folk Traditions, Linguistics, and Translation Studies, preparing students for careers in education, media, and cultural preservation.

Use language studies to foster a greater appreciation of diverse cultures, histories, and traditions, promoting empathy and respect. Completion of 10+2 in any stream for undergraduate programs.
Graduation in any stream for M.A. (Punjabi) eligibility.
